To December 26 the area in front of Lieburg castle is a pedestrian area and meeting point for visitors of the Christmas market.

The Liebburg Building as Advent Calendar

The daily opening of a "calendar window" at the Lienz town hall is a social event.

The opening of the calendar windows is a communicative social event where locals and guests meet to encounter arts.

Daily at 6.30pm the Lienz Christmas market is the cultural meeting place for watching the opening of the calendar windows. Wind players perform traditional pieces to provide the setting.

24 artists designed the calendar pictures. The original pictures are presented at a special exhibition at the town gallery. The proceeds of the auction are for charity.
