Wildschönau is an exceptionally beautiful hiking area, featuring 300 km of valley hiking trails from village to village along forest edges, and mountain trails up to 2300 m elevation.
We offer weekly theme hikes. (mountain peak tour, herbal hike, sunrise hike). Two gondola ropeways provide convenient uphill transport: the Markbachjoch lift in Niederau and the Schatzberg lift in Auffach.

Two years ago Wildschönau, known for offering excellent quality at reasonable prices, introduced a new guest card. It is valid for 6 days and entitles to admissions to gondola ropeways, outdoor swimming pool, tennis courts, mountain farm museum and show mines and to free participation in guided hiking tours and kids' programs.

The people from Wildschönau like to celebrate - and they prefer to do it with their guests. There are several occasions which both locals and guests look forward to: the traditional valley fair, concerts, multimedia shows, cosy alpine hut parties and theater performances.

And each village is the perfect home away from home! Niederau is located at the entrance of the valley, Oberau lies 3 km further on, Mühltal lies at the turnoff to Thierbach, and Auffach is located almost at the end of the valley.

Our restaurants and snack huts have specialised in authentic Tirolean cuisine. Its distinguishing feature is the use of fresh ingredients from local farms: fruits, vegetables, butter, cream, curd cheese, meat, venison, herbs, honey and home-baked bread.
