Waidhofen/Thaya
"Waidhofen, the heart of the Waldviertel!"
This town is especially attractive due to the changing history with its neighbouring country Böhmen, with whom it had seen times of war and times of freedom since 1171. This also influenced Waidhofen´s architecture. Medieval defence facilities can still be seen. However, the true symbols of the town are the two towers of the church and the town hall which make the silhouette of the town easy to recognise.
