Sun, hot springs and the Wienerwald are the three forces that give the town its unique character. Baden bei Wien is a small town, charming and romantic, only 26 km away from the metropolitan city of Vienna. The Romans called the hot sulfur springs "Aquae", and since then many people have come to enjoy cures and treatments here. The house of Habsburg used to spend every summer between 1803 and 1834 in Baden.
Today you are really spoilt for choice, because there is plenty to do and see in this wonderful town: theaters, museums, casino, swimming pools, trotting races, operettas, concerts, etc.

In the picture you can see the signature of "SISI", who was one of the most famous personalities of the 19th century.
The empress loved to go hiking in the southern Vienna Woods, where you can now walk on the paths where "SISI" used to walk. Baden has also some other treats in store for you, such as the delicious favorite ice-cream of the empress: violet parfait.

This Art Nouveau pool is open from May till September.
You will certainly enjoy swimming and sunbathing here, where you find the longest sand beach of Austria.
