St. Margarethen is a typical Burgenland village with a long tradition of wine-growing. The village is also known for the fantastic natural setting of the Roman quarry, one of Europe´s oldest quarries.

Since 1959 sculptors from all over the world meet here in summer. The works mostly stay where they are made and represent modern art of the 20th century.

Amidst the quarry is one of the world´s most beautiful open air theaters, that hosts passion plays every five years. Furthermore a monumentally staged opera festival takes place annually.

Between arts and culture excellent wine, that can be tasted in the cellars, grows here. The "Freizeitpark Burgenland" leisure park is located at the Ruster Berg mountain and inspires young and old with its magic world.
