Both Steinberg and Dörfl are located in the upper Rabnitz valley, along the rivers Rabnitz and Edlau, close to the Bucklige Welt hills.

Steinberg-Dörfl ranks among the most densely-wooded villages in the Burgenland. The mild Pannonian climate and beautiful landscape make Steinberg-Dörfl a popular destination for hikers and hunters. Dörfl is particularly neat and well-kept, and it boasts the Maria Bründl pilgrimage church, which is one of the most popular places of pilgrimage in the region.
