Wolfau - a really lovely village

Lafnitzauen nature reserve
One of the Burgenland´s largest nature reserves with approx. 70ha

The beautiful countryside of this region can only be topped by the 70ha nature reserve of the Lafnitzauen. The area between the Stögersbach and Lafnitz is one of the most beautiful regions of Europe. During a hiking tour on the circuit trail you can enjoy green nature, see seldom animals and plants and regain your energies.
Cultural sights are the catholic church (1732), the protestant house of prayer and the "Biedermeierhaus" (1838).
The village has a wide-range net of trails great for hikes and cycling tours. You´ll pass a lot of flower beds. Wolfau was voted most beautiful flower village of the Burgenland for two times.
The history of Wolfau can be traced back to the old Romans. A burial site was found in 1934 on the Thörwiese meadow and can now be seen in the Landesmuseum.
Wolfau is market municipality since 1992.
