Ernest Hemingway once called the Montafon a "paradise without return". He liked the hospitality of the locals, the good schnapps and the love of life.
Accommodations are more comfortable nowadays, but the quality of the guesthouses is still top. Hemingway, if pressed for a description of the Montafon area, would use the same words now.
