A Warm Welcome to the Birthplace of Franz Xaver Gruber, Composer of "Silent Night, Holy Night", the world´s best-loved Christmas Carol.

Hochburg-Ach is the perfect base for avid cyclists as it is conveniently located on the prime cycle trails that link Passau and Salzburg. What´s more, the lovely scenery around Weilhartsforst forest lends itself to outstanding cycling as well. Scenic "Helmbrechts Trail" winds from the German town of Burghausen across the border and through the community area to the neighboring village of Gilgenberg.

There are great remote trails for hiking, with a fitness and a nature theme trail as undisputed highlights, two asphalt curling alleys, three tennis courts and fishing grounds.

Worthwhile attractions include the Franz Xaver Gruber Memorial House, the Franz Xaver Gruber Organ, Wanghausen Castle (11th century) as well as the lovely Gothic-style pilgrimage church of "Maria Ach".
