Ungenach
The densely wooded rural commune of Ungenach is set amidst Hausruck Region, an area of awesome natural beauty.
The lovely surroundings of Ungenach lend itself to outstanding nature exploration. There are great remote trails for mountain biking, hiking, horseback riding and rewarding nearby outing destinations. A Forest Theme Trail meanders across the romantic woods and provides ramblers with valuable information on the area´s diverse flora and fauna.
The Parish Church is the true jewel of the village. Among its most precious possessions are the elaborate statues of the famous Schwanthaler Family of Sculptors. Thomas Bernhard, Austria´s great novelist and playwright, has chosen Ungenach as his place of inspiration and named one of his works for it.
