This famous windmill is one of the most famous sights of Traunstein in particular and of the Waldviertel in general. It was built in 1926 entirely from wood, and not only the wings but the whole mill could be moved by the power of the winds.
However, with modern electricity becoming increasingly popular in the 50ies the windmill was no longer needed.
