Design Hotels in Vienna

Altstadt Vienna
This beautiful hotel is located inside a carefully renovated patrician house. In June 2006 the South-Tirolean star architect Matteo Thun designed nine new rooms which are decorated in dark and plush colors to evoke associations with old Viennese salons and their splendid parties. Some pieces of furniture, like the desk and the capitonné, were also designed by Thun and custom-made for the hotel. The bathrooms boast black mosaic walls with Swarovski crystals as individual highlights.

Levante Parliament
Vienna’s latest design hotel once was a sanatorium designed by Robert Oerley, a member of the Wiener Secession and an advocate of the austere Jugendstil. Light natural stone, chrome, dark wood and high ceilings (up to 3.3 meters) are combined to create a very stylish and elegant atmosphere. Amenities include cutting-edge communications technology, a large courtyard with garden, sauna baths and fitness room.

DO & CO Hotel Vienna
This city hotel was opened in 2006 and is located opposite St. Stephen’s Cathedral. The hotel’s interior design was inspired by open and light-filled loft-style buildings. Dark floorboards form a contrast to white upholstery; natural Travertin stone and teakwood create a warm and earthy atmosphere. With their state-of-the-art multimedia facilities and the 24-hour room service the 43 rooms and 2 suites meet the highest standards in luxury, service and high-tech conveniences. Especially striking are the details such as sockets suitable for appliances from all over the globe or the soundproof bathrooms.

Radisson SAS Style Hotel
The London-based interior designer Maria Vafiadis sees her work as “homage to the Vienna of the Art Deco period”. The austere, almost “masculine” décor is characterized by commitment to the detail and devoted to works of art and design furniture. In the past this house, built in 1919 by an Otto Wagner disciple, accommodated a bank. The former counter hall now is the hotel’s heart – the lounge. The superbly appointed rooms are kept in reds and tans.

Hotel Messe Wien
In a record construction time of only 14 months architect Hermann Czech created the Austria Trend Hotel Messe Wien, a complex which not only greatly matches Vienna’s modern architectural face but also serves as model building for the entire 2nd district. The hotel is noteworthy for its numerous creative yet functional individual solutions and it’s own, distinct style that makes it so different from your typical design hotel. Light colors and earthy nuances are the theme at this hotel, dominant style elements are maple and pear wood.

Le Meridien
This deluxe hotel, opened in 2003, is located near the Opera House and it sees itself as “stage for guests” and “source of inspiration”. The hotel is decorated with artworks designed to give food for thought. Light in all its aspects is the Le Meridien’s major theme. The rooms are designed in a modern Art+Tech style: castor furniture allows for maximum flexibility, colors like pink, sand and pistachio together with glass, mirrors and special lighting create a hip and stylish ambiance.

Das Triest
Das Triest was designed by no less than the famous British interior designer Sir Terence Conran and is the favorite accommodation choice of celebrities like Whitney Houston and David Bowie. The hotel is a refuge in the center of Vienna: trendy yet warm, luxurious yet relaxed. Das Triest places great emphasis on protecting their guests’ privacy. Some of the rooms are accessed via the green courtyard, others have their own rooftop terrace with a fantastic view of Vienna. All facilities and amenities are state-of-the-art.

Hotel Rathaus Wein & Design
This hotel, located inside a historic burgher house, opened in 2004 and has since been a great addition to the Vienna hotel scene. The centrally located hotel boasts a courtyard with a small garden and 33 classic yet modern rooms, each of which is dedicated to an Austrian winemaker whose wines can be found in the mini bar. The hotel’s central design theme is one of unpretentious minimalism. Great importance was attached to the lighting concept and system: floor lamps and “light-up” bed canopies allow for different lightings.

Hollmann Beletage Design und Boutique Hotel
Very personal and intimate hotel in the mezzanine of a Jugendstil-style house built near St. Stephen’s Cathedral in 1894. Opened in 2004 this hotel offers a salon, open fireplace, piano, dining room, kitchen, sauna and 16 rooms in a sleek yet cozy style. The hotel was reconstructed and modernized in 2006 yet still offers that friendly home-away-from-home feeling. Lunch is served on request.
