Here are five compelling reasons why you will find yourself enchanted by Swarovski Crystal Worlds.
Swarovski Crystal Worlds opened in 1995 to celebrate the 100 year anniversary of Swarovski with a grand, multi-sensory experience of crystal in all its facets. In its 20 years of existence, the crystalline adventure has so far attracted more than 12 million visitors. The redesign in 2015 is the largest expansion yet.
You are sure to appreciate the magical crystal art installations, traveling through 14 Chambers of Wonder featuring different works by some of the most renowned artists and designers of the moment, including Lee Bul and Studio Job. Clever and playful, touching on philosophical and mythological themes, the installations appeal to audiences of all ages. Five of the original Chambers of Wonder will be redesigned entirely during the renovation.
True Swarovski fans will be delighted with “Timeless,” a newly designed Chamber of Wonder that tells the story of the company from its founding through to magical moments on stage, screen, and runway, presents curiosities and glamorous items in addition to nostalgia, history, and technology.
Don’t miss the adjacent Swarovski Store. In its new form, the shopping landscape will be among the largest Swarovski flagship stores worldwide. The new store design with fascinating light and sound installations by the Norwegian architectural office Snøhetta will be a visually stunning piece of art in itself.
Swarovski Crystal Worlds is a great place to bring your family. Not only will the wonderful fantasy world spur your children’s imagination, but as of May 2015 there will also be an extensive outdoor park with more art installations, such as the Crystal Cloud, created by Andy Cao and Xavier Perrot, which consists of approximately 600,000 hand-mounted Swarovski crystals, as well as an extensive playground landscape. An entire new building will be used as a play tower for children of all ages.
Last but not least, the restaurant “Daniels. Café and Restaurant,” is worth a trip on its own. Also designed by Snøhetta, it is housed in an organically shaped pavilion in the garden area. Enjoy the beautiful views of the artwork in the park while feasting on the delectable creations of the restaurant’s very own patisserie.
