Schwarzenegger, Arnold (born 1947)

Schwarzenegger was born in Thal, Austria, a small village bordering the Styrian capital Graz.

He began weight-training at fifteen and was awarded the title of Mr. Universe at age 22 and went on to win the Mr. Olympia contest a total of seven times. Schwarzenegger has remained a prominent face in the bodybuilding sport long after his retirement, and has written several books and numerous articles on the sport.

Schwarzenegger moved to the United States in September 1968 at the age of 21 where his now legendary carreer in film started. Schwarzenegger's breakthrough film was the sword-and-sorcery epic Conan, the Barbarian in 1982, which was a box-office hit.

On April 26, 1986, Schwarzenegger married television journalist Maria Shriver, niece of the 35th President of the United States John F. Kennedy. They have four children.

Arnold Schwarzenegger was serving as the 38th Governor of California until 2011.
