High-grade wellness, prize-winning cuisine, pristine natural surroundings, and award-winning architecture: at the Hotel Post in Bezau, these are the “four pillars of success”.
In 1850 Johann Kaspar Natter opened the first Imperial and Royal post station in Bezau. Today, 160 years later, the building is still owned by Natter’s descendents, but the post office of the old days has been transformed into one of Europe’s best spa hotels
. And for this, the Post can thank Susanne Kaufmann, who now represents the fifth generation
of the family to manage the hotel, and who has gently but firmly modernized it. In 2003 she opened the 500-square-metre, sixteen-cubicle spa that bears her name, offering a variety of organic treatments and her own line of cosmetics whose ingredients come from the Bregenzerwald. Only five years later the German travel magazine “Geo Saison” named the Post Europe’s top wellness hotel, and the magazine Gala presented it with the prestigious Spa Award!
And there is more: in 2009 the first Susanne Kaufmann Spa was opened in Berlin, and the wellness area in Bezau was again renovated and expanded to include a variety of saunas, an indoor pool, outdoor heated saltwater pools, a whirlpool, and a sundeck
The Post is also world-class when it comes to culinary pleasures: 2009 also saw the opening of the gourmet restaurant Irma, which quickly earned two toques from Gault Millau. Irma’s secret recipe for success: elegantly prepared regional cuisine, accompanied by fine wines and charming service. And to top it all off, there is the hotel’s architecture and interior: the brains behind the clean design of the public areas as well as that of the fifty-eight comfortable rooms and four suites was none other than Susanne’s brother, the architect Oskar Leo Kaufmann
