Modern Art in Salzburg
Our recommendations

A new work is added every year, forming its own dialogue with the baroque heritage of the Mozart city and the juxtaposition always creates lively debate.

Since 2002 the Salzburg Foundation has commissioned a number of distinguished contemporary artists to execute installations in outdoor public spaces.  Visitors can join a “walk of modern art” to visit the collection, which includes works by Anselm Kiefer, Mario Merz, Marina Abramovic, Markus Lüpertz, James Turrell, Stephan Balkenhol and Tony Cragg.  The tour takes two hours and is held on the first Saturday of every month.
