Austrian herbal lemonade Almdudler
Almdudler is much more than a refreshing alpine herb lemonade. People fondly associate Almdudler with their own personal experiences and mental images of the great outdoors – stunning mountain panoramas, skiing, mountain biking or simply enjoying après ski with friends. You could say that one of Almdudler’s most important ingredients is its unmistakably Alpine character.
The brand has had a cult following ever since its introduction more than 55 years ago. Taking the expression “auf der Alm dudeln” (old Viennese dialect for “yodelling on the meadows”) and the delicious flavors of 32 Alpine herbs as his inspiration, Erwin Klein had struck upon a way of capturing and bottling the essence of the mountains – and became the founder of Almdudler.
Today, Almdudler has established itself as Austria’s national drink. Like every popular drink, it is also an important ingredient in many alcoholic and non-alcoholic mixed drinks. Almdudler also stages a host of events that have achieved cult-status as well. Being true to its Logo, the brand hosts the annual Almdudler “Trachtenpaerchen Ball” in Vienna. Dress code at this popular event: Dirndl and Lederhosen. If you plan on making it to next year’s "Trachtenpaerchen Ball", you’d better be fast: tickets sell out within hours.
For experiencing the unique taste of Almdudler, you do not have to go to Austria (although there is no doubt that Almdudler is even more tasteful in its country of origin). Have a look at the list of shops and restaurants that offer Almdudler in Sydney.
