Daniel Spoerri, artist of “nouveau realisme” stemming from Rumania, made an impact with Eat-Art Events and Object Art Works.
In the Lower Austrian village of
Hadersdorf am Kamp, the cosmopolitan creator
Daniel Spoerri discovered a new
home both for his art and his passion for eating. A
former monastery building was transformed into an art depository known as “AB.ART”, housing Spoerri’s own creations. Under the selfsame roof, revolving
exhibitions showing works of other artists can now also be seen.
Simultaneously on display will be new
assemblages by Spoerri, all introduced under the title “as very last comes what’s first...”
House number 16 on the main square of Hadersdorf was, once upon a time, Lower Austria’s very first silent film cinema. Today, a different place of encounter can be found there:
“EAT.ART”, a place to cook, eat and drink, hold events and exhibitions. Within the walls of the restaurant, a series of the famous
“residue pictures” (affixed meal leftovers) can be gaped at.
