Arlberg - skiing at its best!

St. Anton is the cosmopolitan capital. A village with Tyrolean charm and the place where après-ski originated. Probably the best known of the villages, St. Anton offers accommodation ranging from bed and breakfast pensions to top 5-star hotels and it is indeed a centre for lovers of gastronomy with a huge range of restaurants and nightlife. The Verwallstube for example, on the Galzig, is honoured with two “hats” and is therefore at 2185 metres of altitude the highest situated Gault Millau-graded restaurant in Europe. The guests sit in their ski clothing at stylishly spread tables and enjoy exquisite culinary creations, noble wines and a mountain panorama with snow-covered slopes and magnificent peaks.

Lech is situated in a beautiful high valley, some 1450 meters above sea level. The idyllic, romantic village provides access to a varied and wide-ranging ski area and is packed with first class restaurants. Lech was named “World gourmet village” by the Falstaff Gourmet Guide, is the place in Austria with the highest density of Gault Millau toques per inhabitant anywhere in Europe. Select gourmet events take place throughout the winter at the exquisite establishments.

Like Lech, Zürs offers a number of superior hotels in which to relax after a hard day on the slopes. Serious skiers looking for powder snow should head above the tree line to the snowfields of Zürs, which can be found glittering in the winter sunlight.

St. Christoph is built on the site where a compassionate shepherd first put a shelter for travellers 600 years ago. Today it is home to a training centre for top skiers and some excellent restaurants. With some incredible 1800 meters above sealevel, St. Christoph is ringed by snow-covered slopes long before the villages in the valley.

The cosy village Stuben has proven itself popular with families who return year after year. It is also the place for skiers who are looking for deep, virgin, off-piste snow. The nightlife here is much more about hearty hospitality than the bright lights of St. Anton.
