In the south of Innsbruck, at the lovely holiday village Mutters there is a new adventurous experience for the entire family – the Mountain Carts. Take the tram from Innsbruck city centre and 15 minutes later, you will be on a plateau overlooking the valley. Afterwards the cable car will take the guests up the Muttereralm mountain hut restaurant with water-playgrounds, treehouses and gentle hiking paths. After enjoying your day up the mountain the real fun part starts. A 5km path especially for the mountain carts will take you down again. You have full control of the cart as it goes through the forests and nature down to the bottom cable car station again. It is a safe and soft adventure and kids from the ages of 9 can take their own cart or sit on the lap of their parents. Helmets are provided. Innsbruck Card holders will get a 50% price reduction.
Those looking for new experiences on the culinary side should try Schnaps-tasting at the local Schnaps distillery named Hoferbauer. It is located just a 15 min tram ride in the outskirts of Innsbruck. Mr. Anton Nagiller welcomes his guests at their own distillery and explains in English how Schnaps is produced, which regional ingredients they use and what flavours you can smell and taste. They have Schnaps such as apple-hey, roses, pear and many more. Tyrolean dinner with self-made bread, bacon, cheese and so on is served alongside (vegetarian only possible too). A visit inside the farmhouse is included as well and rounds off the experience.
