In 2009 Joseph Haydn will not only be celebrated in his birth town of Rohrau. Regional events and international artists will pay tribute to Lower Austria’s famous master composer and his works.
Kulturfabrik Hainburg an der Donau stages an exhibition which is titled “
Phenomenon Haydn – Development of a Genius” and runs from 1 June to 30 December. This exhibition focuses on Joseph Haydn’s childhood and youth which he had spent in Rohrau and Hainburg. On 31 May 2009 Kulturfabrik Hainburg will present
Haydn’s Piano Concerts featuring Roland Batik and the academia allegro vivo chamber orchestra.
The
Haydn Days at Schloss Rohrau have been attracting great numbers of visitors for several years now. Special Haydn concerts are planned at his birth house and at Schloss Harrach.
Schloss Weinzierl, the place where Haydn composed his first string quartets, pays tribute to the great composer with a music festival. The
Music Summer and the internationally renowned
Grafenegg Music Festival host two concerts in honor of Joseph Haydn and other great composer.
The
Lower Austrian Music Summer with the International Stift Melk Baroque Days and the International Allegro Vivo Chamber Music Festival in Waldviertel will also spotlight the works of Haydn. On
Burg Feistritz the genius will be honored with a musical event over the weekend.
Weinviertel Concert House in Ziersdorf will honor Lower Austria’s musical genius with a special event staged in its magnificent Art Nouveau hall.
Joseph Haydn, composer of masses, spiritual and oratorical works, also plays an important role at one of Austria’s most notable church music festivals, the
Musica Sacra.
Klangturm in St. Pölten features an exhibition titled “tanzt haydn” (dance haydn) which offers visitors the opportunity to remix works by Joseph Haydn (23 April to 1 November).
