Hotel Therme Laa Superior
The hotel is located amid the gently rolling hills of the Weinviertel region and is characterized by its structural dynamism and sensual experiences. Wolfgang Vanek of the renowned architects’ office Holzbauer & Partner separated the four-storey building into two units which he linked with a 44-meter long suspended bridge. Also remarkable is the tapered design of the indoor pool hall. Instead of clinical white you find warm colors and select fabrics that lend the hotel a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

Hotel Klinglhuber
This construction was awarded the “State Prize for Tourism and Architecture 1996” and is fascinating for several reasons. The ground floor is moved to the back and the upper floors jut out. In addition, each room has a protruding bay window which leads to an unusual partition of the façade. The top floor is moved to the back and features protruding terraces. The ground floor accommodates the reception, the seminar rooms, a bar, and a breakfast room which merges with the courtyard. The décor was designed by the same architects and is dominated by light birch wood. The bathrooms feature glass panels which bring in natural daylight.

Berghotel Tulbingerkogel
The team of Archisphere was commissioned to revamp the seminar rooms, the wellness area and the façade of the hotel which was built in 1930, and to design six rooms “with a view”. And they did a great job. When the exterior blinds are lowered the hotel turns into an image of the forest by which it is surrounded. The blinds which look like a “tree wallpaper” alienate the building’s façade by ironically mimicking the natural forest in the background. The balcony balustrade made from untreated acacia wood has gradually taken on the grayish color of the surrounding beech trees. The dominating theme for the rooms is a view of Schneeberg Mountain. The rooms are minimalistically decorated and boast a 6-meter long glass front facing south, and the bathroom is separated from the main room by a glass wall.

LOISIUM Hotel, Wine & Spa resort
The whole of New York celebrates the Grüner Veltliner and Kremstal and the architectural achievments of Steven Holl who designed the Loisium (2003) and the nearby Wine & Spa Resort (2005) with its 82 rooms. Simple, deluxe and different – these attributes best describe both the glass cube amid the vineyards and Helmut Österreicher’s fantastic dishes that are served in the spa’s elegant restaurant.

Orange Wings
“Orange Wings” opened its doors in 2003 with an unusual lifestyle concept. The prototype of this hotel project is located in Krems-Lerchenfeld and very well illustrates the function and purpose of this 3-storey building: to offer low-budget accommodation in an architectural gem. The hotel was designed by Firma List who placed great emphasis on both form and function. Guests can check in at the reception or by cell phone and each room has Internet access. Room rates start from Euro 40 per night. With their innovative concept, “Orange Wings” cater to a niche in business tourism.

Hotel Restaurant Meeting Point Hanner
In Mayerling, a rather traditional town, Hanner’s Seminar Hotel is a contemporary statement on the exploitation of forms and materials. The new buildings, designed by pla.net, systematically blend with the infrastructure of the existing hotel. Expansive glass facades connect the interior with the outdoors. Views of the rural surroundings are offered from everywhere. Next to the kitchen and restaurant is a detached building, the “box”, for special cooking and dining events. The art dealer Andrea Jünger was called in to decorate the entire restaurant with paintings by contemporary artists, and the artworks are changed every 6 months. Each of the hotel’s 28 new rooms carries the trademarks of the architects: spaciousness, openness and natural materials.
