The amorphous, glowing glass structure is one of the stations on the Nordkettenbahn, designed by architect Zaha Hadid. It is a 100-year-old mountain railway, which has now four uniquely designed stops.
The
100-year-old mountain railway Nordkettenbahn now has four uniquely designed stops. All of them have the same look, hinting at the curve of the mountains, glacial flow and other echoes of nature. They are postitioned along the
railway's track, winding up the mountain on the city's northern edge to the village of Hungerburg.
The
Nordkettenbahn is not Hadid's first project in the city. In fact she now has landmarks either side of the
Inn valley. Her 2002
Bergisel ski jump tower is an asymmetric, shimmering, metallic tower, with an attractive cafe and spectacular views.
