Ahornboden at Alpine Park KarwendelOne of our Terrific Tips
The contrast couldn’t be more exciting: the giant, wild and massive cliffs of the Karwendel Mountains rocket all around, and in the middle at 1200 meters above sea level you find an enchanting and completely flat high valley. The Rißtal is a national park and offers both hikers and mountain bikers a pure alpine feeling and botanical rarity which simply has to be experienced. Distributed all over the high valley are about 2.000 mountain maple trees, some of them more than 600 years old. In spring they cover the valley in crisp green, and during the summer months the gigantic trees provide shade for hikers. In autumn they produce a true delight of colours, with the small and the large Ahornboden converting into the Tirolean version of “Indian Summer”.
