Hotel Haus Hirt
Thomas Mann once stood in the salon and puffed on a cigar. Stefan Zweig enjoyed magnificent views by the panoramic windows of mountains and the Gastein Valley, which falls gently away as far as Hofgastein. William Somerset Maugham found perfect peace here, as did Lady Churchill, all appreciating the very special atmosphere of this hotel.
Just a few years ago the small “Kur” hotel, built in 1924, was restored and transformed into a family-run, designer hotel, which offers every comfort of the 21st century. Instead of cosy kitsch, Hotel Haus Hirt now offers sleek design. The bar has become a hip lounge and accommodation combines the best of old and new, retro chic with modern amenities. The hotel offers contemporary wellness treats such as Ayurveda, yoga and Pilates classes, but has strived to retain the charm and elegant intimacy of the 1920s.

If cities had a taste, Salzburg would certainly be sweet. This is not only because Salzburg’s most famous delicacy, the Mozartkugel, is made of the finest nougat and marzipan. It is above all because of the fairytale charm of the Baroque city and its modern architectural counterpoints.
