One of our Terrific Tips
The pair met as students on the product design course at Vienna’s University of Applied Arts. And as friends they discovered an important similarity: the sense of humour that they apply to the design of everyday objects.
In 2004 Marie Rahm and Monica Singer founded Polka Product Pleasure and have been creating limited edition must-have designs ever since. They tattoo classic leather sofas, or join several different brightly patterned lampshades together to form their Doosey lamp series. The pair have also created porcelain collections with beautiful patterns for Herend, the Hungarian porcelain factory. POLKA stands for purpose and practicality, but also a certain playfulness. Their concept is unchanging: to enrich life with extraordinary, sensual, elegant products with a touch of humour.
