Ellmau is a pretty village located between the rolling green slopes of the Kitzbüheler Alps and the craggy Wilder Kaiser mountains in Tirol. With a strong farming history, it is still full of local character and tradition. The village is also home to the longest mountain cable railway in Austria, the 'Hartkaiserbahn', which ascends to the top of the Hartkaiser mountain (1,654m) from which there are superb views of the Wilder Kaiser range.
