The Cheese Trail is a unique
Bregenzerwald attraction. One of its special features is the integration of a variety of occupational groups. The businesses taking part in the project must fulfil the required quality criteria (adherence to strict ecological regulations, product range, minimum assortment, etc.) before they are allowed to become members. What's more, stations along the
Cheese Trail are equipped with uniform signposts, making it easy for those new to the region to follow.
The Bregenzerwald Cheese Trail includes:- 50 mountain and alpine dairy farms as well as private cheese makers
- 20 farms that welcome guests and visitors, giving an insight into their daily work and selling innovative and healthy homemade products, such as whey cosmetics, mountain herb teas, mare’s milk and various kinds of brandy
- 49 innkeepers offering special cheese dishes on their menus
- 19 butchers, bakers and speciality shops
- Many craftmanship businesses (ie. carpenters, producers of regional costumes etc), offering tours for groups if notified in advance
