From Sölden in Ötztal, you have easy access to three surrounding peaks above 3000m - the so-called Big 3. No other resort guarantees snow at such dramatic heights, a mere 1h 15mins transfer from Innsbruck Airport. There is plenty to keep you busy outside of your skiing practice, including night skiing, cross-country trails, swimming and a toboggan run. Not to be missed is also the design restaurant IceQ at the top of the Gaislachkogel at 3048m.
Sölden’s 145km of slopes are mainly above the tree line, but the real highlight here are the glaciers. From the village of Sölden, skiers can directly connect to two high-altitude glaciers by several lifts and the "Golden Gate to the Glaciers" gondola to an elevation of 3250m. Both have a range of runs, so beginners and experts alike can experience the thrill of skiing high above the valley amidst some of Austria’s most spectacular peaks. With a total length of 15km, the ski route from Schwarze Schneide at Rettenbach Glacier is the region's longest ski trail featuring a nearly 2000m elevation change. In Sölden, snow is guaranteed from October to May!
Home from home for many UK visitors, Obergurgl is one of Austria's highest resorts and guarantees snow cover at village level, so you too will fall in love with the pretty surroundings. Traditional and welcoming, you will also benefit from easy access to the many blue and red "groomers" so that finding your ski legs again comes easily. And forget about cars, reduced traffic zones and night-time traffic bans mean all you need here are skis! Linked to Obergurgl by gondola, Hochgurgl enjoys an exclusive setting at 2150m, with some of the best doorstep ski atop the Ötztal Alps. The combination of excellent ski-in/ski-out hotels, superb cuisine and top facilities make this is an area that is hard to beat.
