Ellmau

Ellmau is a pretty village located between the rolling green slopes of the Kitzbüheler Alps and the craggy Wilder Kaiser mountain range. With a strong farming history, it it still full of local character and tradition. The village also boasts Austria’s longest mountain cable railway, the ‘Hartkaiserbahn’, which ascends to the top of the Hartkaiser mountain (1,654m) from which there are superb views. Set mid-way between Innsbruck and Salzburg, Ellmau is an ideal starting point for many excursions, and evening entertainment includes a weekly street market and brass band concert.

Owned by the Hochfilzer family since 1832, Hotel Hochfilzer is one of Ellmau’s most popular hotels thanks to Ingrid and her team who cannot do enough for their guests. With an ideal central location, it is a traditional hotel with high standards of comfort and a welcoming Tirolean ambience.
