Offer information

The 30km-long Raurisertal offers and enticing taste of the 1800km² Hohe Tauern National Park, with unique cultural-historical experiences such as gold panning and an array of natural highlights such as the mineralogical treasure of the "Tauern Window" and its signature birds of prey.

The best way to observe wild animals and birds of prey in their natural habitat is by joining a guided excursion to the Krumltal Valley of Vultures, home of the rare bearded vulture, which was re-introduced to the valley in the 1980s. The excursion is led by an experienced National Park ranger, who may even be able to point out griffon vultures, golden eagles, marmots, chamois and ibex.

A trip on the Rauriser Hochalmbahn, one of “Austria's best summer cable cars”, takes you up to the birds of prey station at 1800m for the chance to see shy birds such as falcons, eagles and owls close up.
