Nowhere else are the most beautiful features of Austria situated as closely together as they are in Zell am See-Kaprun. The combination of glaciers, mountains and lakes makes this region in SalzburgerLand absolutely unique. The interaction of the alpine landscape offers active spirits, families and those looking for relaxation a diverse choice of adventures. Hiking and biking, water sports on the crystal clear Lake Zell, paragliding with a view of the 3000m Hohe Tauern peaks, or perhaps a round of golf on one of the most beautiful courses in the Alps?
There are plenty of kicks for hikers and mountaineers, with roughly 400km of hiking trails stretching through every altitude from the glacier to Lake Zell, the summits reachable on foot or by cable car. Exclusive cable cars designed by Porsche whisk pleasure hikers from the valley to the Schmittenhöhe at an altitude of 2000m. At the summit, the network of high altitude hikes (all digitally mapped) is always accompanied by the impressive peak landscape. Hikers can fully experience and appreciate the world of mountains and glaciers on guided adventure and panorama tours with expert local mountain guides and perhaps even experience the thrill of their first 3000m peak.
From two feet to two wheels, there is no shortage of biking adventures either! Whether your preference is to conquer ascending heights by mountain bike, or rather a leisurely family cycle around Lake Zell, the region’s cycling path network stretches over 240km (and a total distance of 1300km in the SalzburgerLand), with something suited to all. Among the highlights for mountain bikers are the three designated free-ride trails on the Kitzsteinhorn. Then there is the Maiskogel which is the perfect spot for uphill bikers and freestylers to let off steam in the Bikepark Kaprun.
