Lower Austria: Haydn’s Birthplace in Rohrau

Joseph Haydn’s birthplace is located in Rohrau, a town about 10km to the south of Hainburg, on the border between Lower Austria and Burgenland. Today it is one of Austria’s most significant memorials to a composer.

Sopron: Haydn as Regular Guest

On the way from Eisenstadt to Eszterháza, the Estherházys' Hungarian version of Versailles, Count Nikolaus often stopped over in Sopron. Traveling with him was his kapellmeister Joseph Haydn.

Burgenland: The Stations of his Work

Joseph Haydn had strong connections with Eisenstadt, the capital of Austria's Burgenland province. The famous master composer lived and worked in this city as kapellmeister under Esterházy patronage.
