The Snow Centre has many unique features and it is also the only indoor snow centre in the UK to hold the prestigious Centre of Excellence status, given by the
British Association of Snowsport Instructors (BASI), making it the most qualified snow school outside of the Alps.
It is twinned with the Tirolean region of
Ötztal in a partnership that will deliver substantial benefits to UK-based snow sport enthusiasts. Stephen Jordan, Technical Director of the Snow says: “The Ötztal region is one of the most popular areas with British skiers and we are delighted to be associated with such a wonderful Alpine destination. Not only will we be operating a number of exchange schemes so Snow Centre visitors can benefit from the latest teaching techniques from the Alps, but we also hope to conclude some exclusive holiday deals to encourage even more travel between Britain and Austria.”
Snowsport enthusiasts are treated to top of the range facilities and equipment and are able to ride on the best snow this side of the Alps thanks to state-of-the-art snow cannons. As well as the main and lesson slopes, the centre is also home to a large Snow+Rock store, a café and après bar, and a Snow Play area where children can make snowmen and play in the real snow.
The Snow Centre, built on the site of the former Hemel Ski Slope, is the first indoor snow sports venue within easy reach of the capital.
