A Walk up the Kapuzinerberg

Three mountains emerge in the city of Salzburg – one of them being the Capuchin Mountain (Kapuzinerberg), named after a monastery at the mountain’s peak. Within a 10 minute walk immerse yourself in nature and discover a true paradise.

Salzburg

Hiking in a city? Yes, in Salzburg! Enter the Kapuzinerstiege, the stairs and walkway leading up the mountain and heading to the Kapuziner Monastery, where monks still live today. Choose one of the various walking trails that lead through the peaceful wooded forest area right to the mountaintop. Discover a broad fauna and flora, something you would never have expected so close to the city’s center. Enjoy the beautiful birds’ song accompanying your walk.

On the way up you will see the Paschingerschloessl, a former home of the famous Austrian author Stefan Zweig, and the magnificent Capucine abbey. Last but not least, as soon as you reach the top there is one of the most unique inns, the Wiazhaus im Franzsikischloessl with al fresco dining and creative Austrian meals like the once a month “OXAMBERG “– a special “beef party”.

Enjoy the panoramic views of this baroque jewel with its many, many churches and the tranquil Salzach River flowing through the city.
