Conductor Dennis Russel Davis opens this year’s three-week-festival, which starts on September 8 and includes 20 concerts with a strong focus on Anton Bruckner in venues including the Brucknerhaus, Martin-Luther-Church, Stiftsbasilika St. Florian, Alter Dom, New Dom and Schloss Traun.

Created in 1980, the Sound of Cloud not only announces the beginning of the Bruckner Festival in Linz it also visualizes the event with a spectacular show in the park surrounding the Brucknerhaus. While patrons can indulge in a truly classical music experience inside, viewers outside the concert house gather to enjoy a different spectacle: the Cloud of Sound.

Music from the Brucknerhaus will be streamed outdoors and comes to life with modern tools: laser and pyrotechnics. Needless to say, this outdoor performance is received quite well by the general public. Families gather to enjoy this spectacle and have thus helped create a new tradition in town: to be part of the Brucknerfestival, where the regions own composer Anton Bruckner is honored for his outstanding contribution to classical music, mostly known for this sacred choral works.
