Eisenstadt

Esterházy Palace in Eisenstadt is one of the most beautiful Baroque palaces in Austria and presents a fascinating view of the resplendent life once lived at the court of the Princes Esterházy.

Constructed in the 13th century, the palace was acquired by the Hungarian Esterházy family in 1622 and has been a prominent fixture in the region ever since. You can tour the palace and learn about the family’s history as well as their celebrated vineyards and vast holdings. The palace’s most famous room is the Haydn Hall named after the family court composer Joseph Haydn. Today, the palace hosts outstanding exhibitions and some of the best classical music performances around.

Throughout history, the Esterházy family also inspired their chefs to create culinary masterpieces, like the Esterházy Roast Beef and Esterházy Cream Cake. Experience these and other regional specialties at the Restaurant Henrici in the palace complex. Sitting in their beautiful patio, tasting the wine from their cellars and enjoying the view to the main palace building is overwhelming!
