Salzburg by Bike

Salzburg is rated the most bike-friendly town in Austria with 100 miles of cycling paths. Follow the Old Town’s riverbank for a most romantic tour on  both sides along the Salzach river to the scenic villages north and south of town, or  aim for Hellbrunn Palace with its famous trick fountains. Renting a bike is easy, as is finding a knowledgeable personal tour guide to pedal along with you. For those that prefer not to pedal. Electric "movelo“ bikes are available at ten rental stations. And, how convenient, empty the batteries can be changed at the local Stiegl Brewery.

And for the more serious cyclists, take advantage of an amazing cycling trail network in the region. The Tauern Bike Path (110 miles ) that leads from Oberndorf along the Salzach to Hallein, Golling or Krimml; the Mozart Bike Path is 290 miles long and winds through the province of Salzburg and Bavaria. The Salzkammergut Bike Trail offers picturesque views of 13 lakes over a distance of 215 miles.
