The Oberstockstall Estate is a magical, enchanted spot; culinary enjoyment, mystical aura, hospitality merge to form a truly unique symbiosis.
An archeological sensation occurred in 1980, when the castle chapel at Oberstockstall uncovered a genuine, elaborated furbished alchemist’s laboratory from about 1580. It was excavated with meticulous care. The finds are on view in the old town hall of Kirchberg. Somewhat less alchemistic is the modern kitchen of patroness Eva Salomon, even if she takes no less care in the preparation and selection of her ingredients.
“Country Eating and Drinking” is her motto. That means that many products come from the immediate surroundings or even from her own estate.
Among them number the wines from her own vineyards, along with sheep, ducks, geese and vegetables, all
raised and cultivated along organic guidelines. Out of this compendium, a
twinkle-toed, light cuisine is born which revitalises the body rather than burdens it. Such a spirit also reigns on the estate’s terrace in the inner courtyard or in the tastefully appointed country inn dining rooms and literally wafts the guests to higher spheres. Stylish
overnight possibilities are also in the vicinity, at the
“Alten Winzerkeller” in Kirchberg am Wagram.
