As magnificent as the landscape of the surrounding Rofan and Karwendel mountain chains are, and as many opportunities for outdoor activities as they offer, in secret one almost wishes for a few days of bad weather so one can also savour some of the hotel’s many amenities, such as the 3,000-square-metre wellness world. After luxuriating in the open-air whirlpool, situated directly above the lake with views of the mountain summits, one can snuggle up in one of the heavenly soft canopy beds, relax in the aromatic salt cave or the Tirolean sweating chamber, or from the Asian-style quiet area take in the views of Lake Achensee, whose crystal-clear waters glitter in turquoise, forest green, and cobalt blue, depending on the weather.

In the meantime, chef Markus Görrich and his crew are conjuring up a delectable five-course dinner for you to enjoy in the evening, using primarily locally-produced ingredients. His recipe for success: he knows the suppliers personally and thus also knows exactly where and when to get the freshest products he needs. The overall Fürstenhaus experience is rounded out by a staff that expertly combines hospitality and friendliness with competence.
