The “permanent cooking experiment” conceived and carried out via the devices of Eckart Witzigmann in Hangar 7 was a grand success. Celebrity guest chefs from all over the world are the ones who have assured and perpetrate that success.

Airport Salzburg

The location in a modern steel-and-glass hangar at the Salzburg Airport is just as unusual as the idea behind it. The “chef of the century” Eckart Witzigmann, who hails from Salzburg, literally ‘cooked up’ this idea, designed the production, then realized it with his own longtime chef-de-cuisine Roland Trettl and team. Here’s how it works: each month, a different celebrity chef is flown in from his own respective restaurant somewhere in the world and personally cooks his personally created menus together with the Ikarus kitchen brigade for an entire month. That is not easy to execute, but it is managed to perfection. Diversity at unheard of quality levels is guaranteed.
