Kamptal Gardens
Our recommendations

The gardens of the Kamptal have been especially blessed by nature and 19 unique oases of green can be visited in one of the most beautiful valleys in Lower Austria.

Kamptal

Garden lovers have much to celebrate in the Kamptal: you can picnic in a lovely English castle garden in Grafenegg or visit Altenburg Monastery’s Garden of Religions, a contemporary design that portrays the great religions of the world.  The medicinal herb garden in Maissau has a collection of indigenous medicinal and culinary herbs and in Eisarn an ancient Germanic agricultural garden has been recreated based on archaeological findings.

Some 1.5 hectares of land has been transformed into 23 themed gardens in Kittenberg and the Noah’s Ark in Schiltern is a baroque sanctuary for endangered plants and seeds.  The distance between each of the members of Kamptal’s garden cooperative is pleasantly short, and you could tour several by bicycle.
