Day One
Welcome to Vienna!

Upon arrival, guests will be met at the airport by their guide and driver and taken to the deluxe Sacher Hotel for check in.

Enjoy lunch at Sacher Eck. End the meal with the hotel's signature Sacher torte, accompanied by a glass of the dry, aromatic Bründlmeyer Sekt

Ring Boulevard
In the afternoon, take a panoramic city tour to see some of the beautiful sights along the Ring Boulevard – Stadtpark or City Park, the Museum of Applied Arts, City Hall, Parliament and beautiful St. Charles Church offering panoramic views of the city.

Dinner is suggested at Plachutta Wollzeile, for the best tafelspitz or boiled beef, in the city

Day Two
Altstadt
Begin the day with a walking tour in the heart of the Old Town. First see the majestic Opera House followed by a leisurely stroll along Karntner Strasse to visit St. Stephen’s Cathedral in the heart of the city. Pop into the Mozarthaus Museum, the world renowned composer’s former residence, and where he composed “The Marriage of Figaro” as well as numerous piano concerti and string quartets. Continue along the Graben to see the Hofburg Palace and its amazing Imperial Vaults.

Lunch is suggested at Zum Schwarzen Kameel, a landmark bar, sandwich shop & restaurant

Stop by the 150 year old Wiener Schokolade König to sample some divine chocolate delicacies.

Albertina Museum – Optional Program
Guests will have a chance to explore the Albertina completely in private after closing hours. Upon arrival, guests are offered champagne and canapés and then taken on a one and a half hour private tour of the fantastic collections housed here. Until May 15, the ‘Batliner Collection: Monet to Picasso’ is on exhibit.

Dinner is recommended at the DO & CO Albertina, a chic and contemporary eatery in the museum.

Day Three
Schönbrunn Palace
Begin the day with a visit the beautiful Schönbrunn Palace, the former summer home of the Hapsburgs and situated only 15minutes from the city center. Over 40 rooms are open for public viewing as well as the gardens and one of the oldest zoos in the world. We recommend attending a short Apple Strudel presentation at the Royal Palace Bakery – we can also arrange for an optional private seminar should guests be interested in a more hands on approach.

Enjoy lunch at Hansen, a unique and atmospheric restaurant situated in the Vienna stock market.

Nußdorf – Optional Program
In the afternoon, guests will be taken up to the vineyards in Nußdorf. Enjoy a walk through the vineyards where guests will then meet with one of Vienna’s renowned winemakers and enjoy a private wine tasting overlooking the city from the hilltop.

Day Four
Kreuzenstein & Klosterneuburg
Enjoy a visit to the impressive Fortress Kreuzenstein in Leobendorf, approximately 20km outside of Vienna. The original fortress was first mentioned in 1115 however in the 17th century, during the 30 Years War, the castle was destroyed. Its present day form was built in the late 1800's and early 1900's, using remnants of the old castle walls.

Afterwards, guests will enjoy a ferry ride on the Danube through part of the Wachau Valley and arrive at the Monastery of Klosterneuburg. Visit the stunning gold and enamel Verduner Altar as well as the chambers of Emperor Charles VI. Finish with a private tour of the breathtaking baroque wine cellars which are still in use today. These cellars were created hundreds of years ago and some are up to 40meters underground. Guests will have an opportunity to sample some of the local wines during a private tasting.

Dinner is recommended at Vestibül, a gourmet restaurant which manages to harmoniously blend the antique with the modern.

Guests this evening can enjoy a performance at the Vienna Opera or the Musikverein. We would arrange for a private transfer by horse drawn carriage, or fiaker, to either venue.

Day Five
Eisenstadt ~ Burgenland
Today guests will be taken by private car/driver to the beautiful region of Burgenland, near the Hungarian border where wineries are nestled among rolling hills and thatched roof houses by UNESCO World Heritage protected Lake Neusiedl. Check into one of the local charming guesthouses in the area such as Herberge am Nikolauszeche in the village of Purbach.

Begin with a visit to Eisenstadt, the charming capital of Burgenland. It is here that Joseph Haydn used to live and work in the baroque Eszterhazy Palace, and composed for the aristocratic Eszterhazy family. The Berg Church is home to the grave of the famed composer.

Guests will visit one of the most successful and awarded family run wineries in Austria, Kracher Weinlaubenhof. Enjoy the scenic drive to the winery, located in Ilmitz, followed by a private tour and tasting.

Dinner this evening is suggested at Zur Blauen Gans in nearby Weiden am See, one of the top restaurants in the region.

Day Six
Rust ~ Burgenland
Continue on to the small town of Rust with its beautiful village center, picturesque houses, and a church dating from the 13th century. In the nearby village of Schützen, enjoy a delectable lunch at Taubenkobel, one of the finest restaurants in all of Austria and a member of Relais & Chateaux. Enjoy panoramic views of the nearby lake and countless storks from the terrace of the restaurant.

In the early afternoon, guests will take the train to Graz, approximately 2.5 hours.

Welcome to Graz!
Check into the Grand Hotel Wiesler, a 5 star art nouveau hotel on the banks of the River Mur.

Dinner this evening suggested at the Altsteirisch Schmankerl Stubn, a typical family run Styrian restaurant with a hearty menu and festive atmosphere.

Day Seven
Graz
In the morning, take a walk across what was originally designed to be a temporary project yet has turned into an attraction - the island on the River Mur. New York artist Vito Acconci designed a steel grid structure in the shape of a half-opened sea shell, used as an amphitheatre for performances but also a resting place. The island also functions as a bridge between the two banks of the River Mur.

Take a ride on the funicular to the top of the tree clad mountain, the Schlossberg, in the city center, with its Uhrturm, or clock tower perched on the mountain.

Enjoy lunch at Aiola Upstairs, a designer ‘gastropub’ offering an international menu and panoramic views of the city below.

After lunch, enjoy a stroll down the mountain through beautiful parks and winding pathways. Take a walking tour of the historical center of the old town; exploring this cities narrow lanes and picturesque courtyards with Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque architecture. Stop to see the historic Royal Bakery with its beautiful ornate wooden entryway.

Visit the landmark of Graz, the Kunsthaus Museum, affectionately called the Alien by locals. Designed by London architects Peter Cook and Colin Fournier, the ‘biomorphic’ Kunsthaus manages to blend avant garde harmoniously into the charming historic city.

Enjoy dinner at Stainzerbauer, a nostalgic and romantic Styrian Inn which has been in existence since 1577.

Day Eight
Private transfer from the hotel to the Graz Airport in time for departing flight home via Vienna.
