Café Tomaselli: Mozart’s favorite

“Das Tomaselli” as this venerable café is simply called by the locals, is nothing short of an institution in the baroque city of Salzburg.

Founded in 1705 and already a favorite hangout of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and his wife Constance, is still today the place in town to see and be seen, especially during the time of the Salzburg Festival. Local dignitaries, stars of music, stage and opera and visitors alike enjoy the old-world charm of this coffeehouse.  Do as the locals do and don’t just order a regular coffee - the Café offers a great variety of different kinds of coffee, and make sure you’ll try the homemade cakes and strudels, which are offered by the “cake-maid” – a rather unique job title to this café. 

In the warmer months try and score a coveted seat on the terrace, one of the most sought-after relaxation spots in the city of Salzburg with a great view of the bustling of the square just below. Additional seating is also offered at the pretty „Tomaselli-Kiosk” on the Square from spring to autumn.
