The building was originally built as a hotel in 1873, and used until 1945 as such. After years of use as an office building The Sans Souci was transformed only recently into a luxury boutique hotel. The Sans Souci Wien is located in the center of Vienna’s cultural happenings: The MuseumsQuartier, the Kunsthistorisches Museum (Museum of Art History), the Museum of Natural History and the Volkstheater. Shopping in the high street fashion shops of the nearby Mariahilfer Strasse as well as the fancy small design boutiques of the artist’s quarter Spittelberg and the luxurious stores of Vienna’s first district are within walking distance.
