For experienced bikers and novices alike, there can be no more serene or memorable experience of Austria's wine hotspots than breezing along the marvelous “Rieden Tour Süd” bike trail. With the wind your hair, you'll wend your way from wine village to breathtaking castle to renowned winery, while making leisurely stops and sampling local treats.

Langenlois

The Kamptal is one of the picturesque valleys in Lower Austria’s wine growing regions. With low gradients, plenty of cultural attractions, and, of course, a wide variety of restaurants and vine taverns to take a break at, the region is perfect for bike tours both leisurely and challenging.

Most tours start in the town of Langenlois, including the “Rieden Tour Süd.” This particular bike path winds up to Gobelsburg palace, then on to a forgotten old castle, past the stunning Lengenfeld Golf Course and along a romantic wine cellar alley. Pause at the Erste Kamptaler Essigmanufaktur for some award-winning vinegars before continuing along a stream to Langenlois's Ursin Haus, for a wine tasting and snack.

Whether you're a young family or a hardcore rock hopper, a network of well-marked bicycle routes -- named after grape varieties, of course -- awaits your discovery, beginning at the charming square of Langenlois
