The Kamptal is one of the picturesque valleys in Lower Austria’s wine growing regions. With low gradients, plenty of cultural attractions, and, of course, a wide variety of restaurants and vine taverns to take a break at, the region is perfect for bike tours both leisurely and challenging.
Most tours start in the town of Langenlois, including the “Rieden Tour Süd.” This particular bike path winds up to Gobelsburg palace, then on to a forgotten old castle, past the stunning Lengenfeld Golf Course and along a romantic wine cellar alley. Pause at the Erste Kamptaler Essigmanufaktur for some award-winning vinegars before continuing along a stream to Langenlois's Ursin Haus, for a wine tasting and snack.
Whether you're a young family or a hardcore rock hopper, a network of well-marked bicycle routes -- named after grape varieties, of course -- awaits your discovery, beginning at the charming square of Langenlois
Far from the noise and hectic of a busy lifestyle, yet only a scenic hour’s drive north of Vienna is an idyllic, rural landscape that hugs the border of the Czech Republic. This sleepy corner of Austria features rolling vineyard hills, asparagus plantations, and a sparse few farming villages. Set in this rustic landscape is a peaceful oasis: the 4-star Hotel Veltlin and the Veltlinerland golf course in Poysdorf.
