Klosterneuburg Monastery

Splendid things happen when heaven and earth meet. Truly one of the architectural jewels of Austria, the baroque Klosterneuburg monastery has been the center of spiritual, economic, social and cultural life in the region for 900 years. It is also Austria’s oldest and largest winery, and as the country’s first carbon neutral wine producer, it continues to be one of the most visionary.

Stift Klosterneuburg offers specialized tours that allow you to experience the vibrant spiritual, artistic and imperial tradition of the monastery. On the winery tour you see how state-of-the art winemaking is seamlessly integrated in the stunning and expansive Baroque cellar. An extensive old wine archive is kept in the historic cellar which descends three stories and 36 meters under the earth’s surface.

A wine tasting of the monastery’s award winning wines completes the tour. Be sure to check the event calendar; there is always an exciting concert, art exhibition or wine tasting scheduled.
