Schlumberger: Austria’s Sekt Royalty

When Austrians talk about Sekt, they talk about the golden liquid that makes us all want more: sparkling wine. One of the oldest and famed producers is the Schlumberger family in Vienna. Head out to their 300-year-old cellars and let it get historic … and romantic!

Sekt is Austria’s answer to champagne. If you love a good glass of Sekt, then head out to Austria’s royalty: Schlumberger.

In 1895, Schlumberger was appointed Purveyor to the Imperial Court of Austria, and they take pride in their ties to the Habsburg monarchy (they even produce a Rosé Sissi and a Sparkling Franzl, a tribute to Austria’s last royal couple). The home of the Schlumberger Sekt is a 300-year-old cellar in Vienna. The cellar is built like a labyrinth, stretches for several miles below ground, features an intriguing blend of contemporary and traditional architecture … and is utterly romantic!

Several million bottles of the finest Schlumberger Sekt rest here. Tour the cellar and get invited into the secrets of the ‘méthode traditionelle. And don’t forget, Sissi and Franzl are available in a duo-gift bag.
