World Cultural Heritage
Meeting in 1972, the General Conference of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) endorsed the "World Heritage Convention". Its purpose is to select the world's "cultural and natural heritage" and to detail those sites that are of exceptional interest and value for the whole of humanity in a "World Heritage List ". The Convention sets out to make an effective contribution to protecting the "World’s Heritage" through the concerted efforts of all peoples.
