Camping and Caravaning
Camping-Information is available at the
- branch offices of the Austrian National Tourist Office
- automobile clubs ARBÖ and ÖAMTC
- regional tourist boards
- Camping- and Caravaning Club Austria (CCA)
- Austrian Camping Club (ÖCC)
At many sites reductions are granted to children as well as to members of the FICC, the AIT and FIA upon presentation of the "International Camping Card".
Camping outside the camping sites requires the permission of the landowners.
Mobile homes, trailers:
A Carnet de Passage (customs document) is not required for mobile homes.
Expressway toll: An additional expressway toll sticker is not needed for mobile homes, the toll sticker on the towing vehicle is valid for both. Trailers (up to 3.5 tons) pay the rate for passenger cars (see Tips for Motorists).
Mobile homes over 3.5 tons have to pay an additional toll fee depending on the distance covered (in km) since January 01, 2004.
This toll - the so called go-box - is collected by a pre-paid system. More detailed information is available at www.asfinag.at, the national Automobile Clubs or at www.go-maut.at
Overnighting in trailers outside of camping sites is, except for Vienna, Tirol and protected rural areas, permitted.(subject to eventual regional restrictions); however, setting up camping equipment (i.e. setting up tables and chairs) is not permitted.
In some regions and areas in Austria there is a parking prohibition for trailers (information available at the Communal Administrative Office or the Police).
Electricity/Gas Cylinders:
Line voltage 220 Volt. The amperage can variate between 4 and 16 amperes at the camping sites.
An increasing number of camping sites have CEE-connections.
Camping gas cylinders of the common international brands can usually be exchanged at the camping sites.
